During a Jam Session, you don't play specific songs. Sometimes you improvise on popular jazz standards, which serve as a starting point for your improvisation, or you simply play in a key chosen by one of the musicians.
Interestingly, the musicians playing during the evening can also be joined by people who come as guests.
